SOUKOU is the 18th season of “the 24 seasons”. From this season you start to notice morning frost. When the temperature drops enough, it is the season of a beautiful phenomenon nature gives; Autumn Foliage! We share with you 2 things about them!
||| 1 ||| Autumn Foliage “Hunting”?
“紅葉狩り/momoiji-gari/” is a word for Japanese people to go out to admire Autumn Leaves. What we find funny about the word, is the part “狩り”. The character “狩” means “hunting”. But we do not pick nor collect leaves when we go on it. But “きのこ狩り/kinoko-gari/” is mushroom hunting. That! We actually pick mushrooms in the woods.
||| 2 ||| FIND A JAPANESE GARDEN!
If you will be in Japan this time of the year, ask your hotel concierge if there are any Japanese gardens that are famous for Autumn Leaves or better yet, do the night lights up.
Seeing natural leaves in the mountains is great but in the traditional style gardens, you get to see the design and calculation of the gardeners.
